The event is to run for the 28th and 29th April 2007, at the IET, Savoy Place, London.
The Government is showing a positive stance towards Nuclear New Build: the Energy White Paper 2007 provides the enabling environment for reactors to be built in the UK. It is now down to industry and the financial sector to work within this environment and make new nuclear a reality.
It is quite clear that the Government will not finance new build, but it will have the ability to influence issues such as licence allocation, siting, acceptability of the handling of radioactive waste and availability of resources/skilled people.
Presentations from BERR, and Secretary of State John Hutton will give an opportunity to judge how the White Paper will influence the delivery of the nuclear new build programme.
Now that the Government has provided the legislative environment, industry must unite to provide a modern, economical, low-carbon energy programme. Of course, supply chain management and funding are vital for success – NNB08 will provide the perfect vehicle to engage with Government and industry figures, to influence those who shape opinions and make decisions and provide an opportunity for you to air your opinions directly.
